Long Beach @ Dempsey

Who can resist seafood? Can you? Well, not me since I'm a self-confessed seafood lover! I find seafood light and tasty unlike meat. It won't bloat you up after a sumptuous meal. We ordered the Seafood set lunch menu for 10pax at Long Beach @ Dempsey . The Seafood Soup is really tasty, filled with crabmeat, conpoy, fish maws and mushrooms. It's also not too salty.

A seafood meal is not complete without crabs. We opted for Black Pepper Crabs rather than chili crabs. I read in an article before that the chef at Long Beach restaurant was the first to invent this dish! The peppery taste blended very well with the crabs. The restaurant uses Sri Lanka crabs so the crabs are very meaty (more than 2kg each).

Next, we had the Handmade Silken Tofu with special sauce. The tofu is so smooth and soft that it just melt in your mouth.

The "Dong Po” Ribs with Honey Sauce is simply delicious. The ribs are so tender and juicy. Double yummy!

The Nyonya Assam Steamed Sea Bass is also very fresh and delicious. The assam paste is not spicy but rather sweet and sour. Very appetizing indeed!

The Glutinous Rice with Chinese sausages and mushroom is a famous Cantonese dish. It's very filling so we decided to eat a few spoonful. It's very tasty and fragrant.

My apologies for the blur pix. Is it the side-effects of MSG? Chinese restaurants usually like to add a bit of MSG into their dishes. To be honest, I'm quite sensitive to MSG. My face muscles will feel tight and I will feel very thirsty and sleepy after that. I dislike these symptoms. How about you? Do you experience any MSG side-effects? Their dishes are so tasty so they should not put any MSG at all. The Tiger Prawns Crispy Noodles is very average but al least the prawns are fresh and juicy.

The Yam Paste dessert (Orh Nee) is creamy and nice. Not too sweet nor stachy. This Teochew dessert is always a hot favourite with my family. Long Beach has many outlets all over Singapore but we like the Dempsey outlet best as there are plenty of parking lots outside the restaurant. It's an established seafood restaurant so you can be assured of the freshest seafood. Beside the typical seafood dishes, this outlet also offer fusion seafood dishes. The dishes are served a bit too quickly so I feel a bit rushed. So we requested for the dishes to be served at a slower pace. It's a nice place to enjoy your tasty seafood!
