This post is long overdue! Our family decided to visit the Mandarin Orchard Hotel after it has been revamped! So after checking-out the shops at Mandarin Gallery, we went to Chatterbox to have lunch. The place is definitely brighter than the old Chatterbox! Even the menu looks classy!
There are a lot of famous local fare to choose from so we ordered various dishes to try them out!
The Hainanese Pork Chop Rice set is quite disappointing! The cutlet is too dry! I still prefer my mom's version. The rice is also very hard and dry.
The Nasi Goreng is better. The rice is very fragrant and the rice set consists of two satay sticks, achar, curry chicken and a few pieces of crispy keropok. Quite authentic!
When you're in Chatterbox, you must definitely order their signature dish! The famous Chatterbox Hainanese Chicken Rice that even Indonesian toursits will pack them for return trip home! The chicken is very tender. You can either select the drumstick or breast meat portion. The rice is very fragrant! The presentation is really nice! I prefer the drumstick portion as I find the meat more tender. Overall, it's ok but I have tasted better chicken rice! The chilli sauce is really a MUST!
This is another signature dish in Chatterbox, the Lobster Laksa! The portion is huge! The generous ingredients are noodles are definitely sufficient for 2 diners. The Boston lobster is really fresh! It's really value for money!
For the health conscious, you can order the Fish Hor Fun. The portion is sufficient for 1pax but the fish slices are very fresh. The taste of the gravy is average only.
The kids' menu consists of a few items only. So we ordered the Fried Rice and Spaghetti with cream sauce. Kids managed to finish their food.
You must try the Chatterbox signature dessert! It's Coconut Ice-cream served in coconut husk, rambutan and walnuts. Very delicious! So smooth and creamy and full of coconut flavour!
The Chendol is quite average only but packed with ingredients like read beans, chendol and attap seeds!
